He stated concern about affordable housing and <br /> asked that it be (ooked at carefully as an opportunity to help the community <br /> decide what they want and to make gains in this area. <br /> M/S Bain/Howard to close the public hearing. The motion passed by <br /> unanimous voice vote by those present. <br /> Council discussed and clarified the intent of the affordable housing <br /> component, and with the agreement from appropriate staff and the <br /> developer, directed �ity Attorney Yamamoto to work on additional clarifying <br /> language changes. <br /> Various Council Members, City Attorney Yamamoto, and Interim City <br /> Manager Ingram discussed the concern that if the project is adopted that it <br /> not be considered a roundabout way of creating a City policy on affordable <br /> housing. <br /> At the suggestion of one Council Member, there was discussion for proposed <br /> language changes in recital #14 of the development agreement regarding the <br /> intent to enter into an agreement with the Building Trade Unian Council. Mr. <br /> Powers stated his verbal commitment to the trades to build its Union, but that <br /> they had not made an agreement yet. He stated that an agreement would <br /> need to be negotiated between themselves and the building trades.
