We are teens and we don't see everything or have access to this
information. Sharing more information online and social media outlets so we young
people can understand and get a feel and sense of community.
• It's hard when information is not transparent for youth - we are a part of the community
• Mental Health training to the PD, (this belong to Mental Health Department)
• Training for officers
• From Sequoia HS, police to don't be there
• Zoning reform, long term
• Housing is really good in RWC, we need to build thousands and thousands of houses to
meet the community needs
• Changes from the inside (policing)
• Establish guidelines for officers
• Enforcement of the law to change the perspective on how people see them
• We can do what the community needs to do
• Love RWC because I have been living in the town for many years
• Living in the area for few years
• Living in RWC for 26 years
• Born in RWC Kaiser, kids in the school system
• 18 years living in RWC, in the County for 25, love downtown, proud of the city, diverse
group of people, open platform
• Born and raised in RWC, parks close the house, easy access to walk
• Living in RWC for 3 yrs., Sequoia HS, diversity
• Sense of community, 26 years, connectivity
• Climate, diversity of the community
• At the group summaries section last night, our PCRC facilitator for Group 1 made no
mention of the concern I raised regarding racial bias in the RCPD. Most groups appeared
to have discussed housing and social services without honing in on the racial bias within
our local dept. I want to make sure this doesn't get lost in the discussion, and is
highlighted as a theme in your report. After all, this is the issue that precipitated these
sessions in the first place. I presented data from 2016-2018 from police scorecard.org
(haps://policescorecard.or /g ?city=redwood-cit ), which reveals the higher rates of arrests
and police use of force among POC, especially latinx in RWC. I've asked the council and
mayor several times to present the City's most recent data, without success. How can we
have a candid discussion about race and policing without the data? These sessions are a
start but without the exchange and discussion, I am discouraged that any meaningful
change will come out of this (as your quick poll numbers showed). I understand that there
is still a town hall pending, however after the initial town hall following the BLM protest
several months ago, we were assured that all questions would be answered.
