From: Kevin McDowell
To: GRP -City Council
Subject: Taking E-9 RCFD out of service
Date: Sunday, October 25, 2020 12:57:29 PM
Taking E-9 out of service is a serious mistake for the following reasons.
1. E-9 first due district is commercial, retail, and high density population (apartments)
2. By delaying an engine company to a reported fire makes small fires bigger
3. Giving some duties to T-9 does not eliminate the need for an engine company.
4. T-9 does not have a water tank, fire hose, or a water pump to extinguish fires. Truck
companies do not extinguish fires.
5. Slower response to medical calls. T-9 is a large ladder truck, probably about 40 feet
long. With traffic, etc. slower
6. With slower response to medical calls, patients with heart attacks, strokes, etc. will have
a less chance to live.
Thank you for reading. Please consider this very carefully.
Best Regards,
Kevin Mc Dowell Retired Fire Captain/Paramedic, Menlo Park Fire District
RC
