From: Tony Wittry
To: Council-Diane Howard; Council-Shelly Masur; Council-Alicia Aguirre; Council-Ian Bain; Council-Giselle Hale;
Council-Diana Reddv; Council-Janet Boraens
Subject: Please do not cut RWC Fire Dept Budget
Date: Sunday, October 25, 2020 7:34:40 PM
I'm a 15 year resident of Redwood Shores. Although we
have our own fire engine in Redwood Shores, I think that
Downtown Redwood City fire engines are also important
to us. We depend on Redwood City's fire engines if there
are multiple emergency calls in our area.
I understand Redwood City is the busiest district in San
Mateo County. In 2019, District 9 had 104 FIRES and
2872 total calls for service. With Downtown Redwood
City increasing in population (due to all of those new
apartment buildings), I would imagine the demand for
emergency service will increase.
Please do no cut Redwood City's fire department budget.
It would make me feel less safe. Budget cuts would
mean engine closures, which would translate to higher
emergency response times, which could put my life at
risk in the future.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
Tony Wittry
Redwood Shores
