First, any such
effort should be voted on by the residents, as opposed to "polled" over the summer.
Next, the commitment to keep pot stores "600 feet" away from schools or child centers is an
absurdly meaningless stat. The question is, where do kids go to eat? Woodside Plaza is:
2000 feet from Henry Ford (2/5 of a mile)
2500 feet from St. Pius School (half a mile)
3000 feet from Rocketship Prep (3/5 of a mile)
3700 feet away from Kennedy Middle School (.7 mile)
I mile away from Woodside High School and Selby Elementary.
By any reasonable stretch of the imagination, these schools are close by. Walking distance.
Is it really going to be your position that it's ok to put a pot store a walk down the road from 6
schools simply because it's more than 600 feet?
I oppose this, and I think you should wait to put it on a ballot, instead of a poll. just one more
way you ramrod crap through. Take advantage of the pandemic. Hope people don't notice.
I really hope you come to your senses. Even considering this is awful. I have lived in
Redwood City for 6 years this time, 5 years in the 90s, and 8 years (Sequoia High graduate
class of 80). This is just really a terrible thing.
Michele Kerr
