S.A. - Page 9 of 302
FIGURE 5 - OPEN SPACE
Bicycle & Pedestrian Facilities: The project would provide a combination of bicycle and pedestrian facilities
to improve circulation to those not traveling by automobile. Note that all work on EI Camino Real would
require approval from CalTrans since it is a state highway. These are described below:
• Install a new 10 ft. wide walkway (including trees, pedestrian lights, par -course fitness equipment,
and bike repair kiosk), along the southern side of Redwood Creek between EI Camino Real and
Lathrop streets.
• Install a new 8 ft. wide walkaway (including trees and pedestrian lights), along the western side of
the railroad tracks between Chestnut and Beech streets.
• Install a new protected bike lane on EI Camino Real (east side) between Cedar and Maple streets
consistent with the EI Camino Real Corridor Plan.
• Improve circulation by installing a new median on EI Camino Real to allow right turn in/out only
from Beech Street and install a new crosswalk with a HAWK signal to enhance safety when crossing
EI Camino Real.
• Improve circulation by reconfiguring Beech Street to align with Lincoln Street west of EI Camino
Real consistent with the EI Camino Real Corridor Plan. As noted above, this new intersection would
provide safer crossings.
• Improve circulation by removing the section of Shasta Street between Chestnut and Main streets,
allowing safer movements at the intersection.
• Install sidewalks (including street trees, pedestrian lights, and bike parking), bike lanes and green
infrastructure along EI Camino Real, Beech, Elm, Cedar, Lathrop, Main, and Jefferson streets within
the project site.
• Install traffic calming measures on Lathrop between Cedar and Maple streets to create a bicycle
boulevard consistent with the Citywide Transportation Plan (RWCmoves).
