It is a good source for a detailed <br />explanation on the problems with existing density bonus law and how this bill provides a <br />mechanism to fix some of these issues. <br /> <br />The League's Coastal Cities Issue Group Testifies at Coastal Commission Meeting <br /> <br />The League's Coastal Cities Issue Group (CCIG) testified before the California Coastal <br />Commission meeting in Santa Barbra on Thursday, April 10. Representing the group at the <br />meeting were Jere Melo, council member, Fort Bragg, member, League board of directors and <br />Iya Falcone, council member, Santa Barbara, member, League board of directors. <br /> <br />The two testified to the Commission about building communication between the Commission and <br />local government and collaborating on issues of mutual interest. They also requested that the <br />Commission form a special ad-hoc group to facilitate this. The Commission voiced concern about <br />meeting with the CCIG as a subgroup because of fiscal constraints as well as its quasi-judicial <br />status but agreed to have several meetings between cities and Coastal Commission staff. <br /> <br />These meetings are expected to start in the next few months. Updates will be provided through <br />Priority Focus. <br /> <br />The League's Policy Committees Meet in Ontario <br /> <br />The League of Califomia Cities held its second policy CElmmittee meetings of the year April 2-3 in <br />Ontario at the Ontario Convention Center. The committees were well attended and took up a <br />variety of policy issues and legislation. <br /> <br />The League's board of directors will take up the policy committees' legislative recommendations <br />and other issues at its upcoming meeting in Sacramento, April 17-18. <br /> <br />Latino Caucus Will Host Forum During Legislative Action Days <br /> <br />In 2006, the Legislature passed AB 2987 regarding cable and video telecommunications <br />legislation. The League of California Cities' Latino Caucus is hosting an event on April 16 to <br />provide an update following the passage of the telecommunications bill. <br /> <br />Assembly Member Lloyd Levine, author of AB 2987, representatives from local government and <br />the Public Utilities Commission will address how the implementation of AB 2987 impacts cities. <br /> <br />Additional speakers and topics include: <br /> <br />. Assembly Member Kevin de Le6n (D-Los Angeles) will discuss how the Legislature's <br />Latino Caucus plans to address California's $16 billion budget shortfall and other Caucus <br />policies before the Legislature; and <br /> <br />.
