The workshop activities
will include:

. Discussion of project definition and purpose

. Desired outcomes and goals for the study

. An information exchange based upon data analysis and synthesis, community demographics,
and trends and the information committee members have acquired through focus groups,
stakeholder meetings, studies, etc.

. Identification of the issues that are opportunities and threats to a successful project

. Viewing a virtual tour of new and successful community centers, senior centers,
and aquatic centers throughout the United States

. Vision setting with a discussion of the programmatic, functional, operational,
and financial objectives

. A summary of what was learned and accomplished and a discussion of the next steps

Other activities will include individual meetings with key persons or staff, if desired. The Sports Management
Group will also tour the existing facilities prior to Workshop #1.

5.0 Space Programming

Building upon the information gathered from tasks 1 through 3 and the outcomes of the first workshop,
The Sports Management Group will develop alternative space programs responsive to the vision and
objectives of the Steering Committee. It is likely that more than one space program and alternative will be
developed and tested against the project goals and parameters. Each space program option will identify the
space component, the net assignable square footage for each space, the required support spaces, and the
storage requirements. Each space program alternative will also identify the gross building square footage
and related outdoor space requirements, where appropriate. Site requirements, including acreage will be
identified. Space programs will include an opinion of construction and total project cost to provide a point
of reference for the evaluation of the various alternatives. These alternatives will be presented to the
Steering Committee and will be refined to a preferred option(s).

The Sports Management Group will prepare planning worksheets to assist the Steering Committee with the
prioritization of space components and examine the impact of space component selection on the total
project cost, land use, and project economics.

11M
The Sports
. ~ Management Group

2
