Library Information Technology Coordinator <br /> In order to plan for future needs of the Library, another c{assification within the Library <br /> Information Technology family is also being created at this time. It is recommended that <br /> a new cfass af Library lnformation Technology Coardinator be created as par� of the <br /> Redwaod City Management Employees Association (RCMEA) unit . This positian will <br /> have overali responsibility of coordinating the pfanning, development, impfementation, <br /> and monitoring of alE information sysfiems for the main library and a!I branches. A <br /> cornpensation survey of comparable cities did not reveal sufficien# data to warrant a <br /> recommendation based on external labor market. As such, an internal analysis was <br /> , conducted and it provided the basis for the recommendation to tie this class �o the <br /> existing class of Senior Information Technology Analyst, with a proposed salary range <br /> of $6,946 to $8,335 per month. This position will not be funded or filled at this time. The <br /> Library will have to come back to council at a future date to secure funding for #his <br /> position before it can be filled. Staff is recommending the actual jab specification be <br /> approved at this time since it is so closely linked to the Library Informatian Technology <br /> Technician and created as part of that job family. A copy of the new job description is <br /> included as Attachment 2. <br /> Revisions to Job Descriptions -- Public Works Services <br /> 1. Utilities Worker <br /> The Public Works class of Water Control Specialist has not been utilized in ouer ten <br /> years, however, the classification has remained active. Recently, the need arose in the <br /> Public Works Services Department for an addi#ional classification to provide support to <br /> the Utilities Specialisf class. Based on a ciassification analysis conducted by the <br /> Human Resources Department, it was determined that the existing cfass of Water <br /> Control Specialist wou4d be the appropriate class to provide the additional support. <br /> However, because this class has not been utilized #or many years, modifications and <br /> updates were necessary to bring this class up to current ciiy and labor marfcet <br /> standards. The modificatians that were made include: a title change to Ufilifies Worker <br /> for cansistency with current class series and market titling pract"sces; an update of duties <br /> and responsibilities; an emphasis on the relationship befinreen the Utilities Specialist <br /> class and re-titled Utilities Worker classificatian; the addition of recent regulatory <br /> requirements to the minimum qualifications; and changes to language and formatting to <br /> meet current City standards. A copy of the revised job description is included as <br /> Attachment 3. <br /> 2. Utilities Specialis# <br /> Modifications were made #o the class af Utilities Specialisf to ensure consistency with <br /> the revisions made to the Water Contro! Specialisfi class and ensure fihat recognized <br /> City and State regulatory requirements are appropriatsiy reflected in the minimum <br /> qualifications. A copy of the revised job description is included as Attachment 4. <br /> There are no changes to the compensatian of the two Utiii�ies positians. <br />
