Council explaining different aspects of the outreach. Ms. Maley-Grubl said that 100
entries were submitted to name the on demand shuttle. She thanked Vice Mayor Howard
for her commitment to this program. She named other people who have made meaningful
contributions and have been invested in the success of the program.

Council asked questions about the program and its use. There was a suggestion to speak
with St. Anthony's and see if services could be combined since they also have a shuttle. It
was also mentioned that Casa de Redwood uses the shuttle with frequency. The TDM
(Transportation Demand Management) was discussed and Mr. Ingram said that this falls
under the environmental review process for most projects. The City Manager added that
on larger projects this is looked at separately.

One Council Member still hopes to get more updates to better understand the community
benefit justifying the existence of an on demand shuttle. It was requested that sporadic
updates be provided to Council regarding the benchmarks. One Council Member would
also like to know why people use the service i.e., is it convenience, cost, or environmental
reason. More specifically the question posed was what community need is being met by
the "on demand" shuttle.

There was a note of caution regarding approaching St. Anthony's and committing to a
partnership. Instead it was suggested that a conversation take place between the two
providers to better understand the roles and routes of each shuttle. This will also enable
sharing of information without negating each others' role or one taking over the other.

M/S Pierce/Ira to approve the item. Motion carries unanimously by electronic vote.
Vice Mayor Howard thanked the task force and the Council. Mayor Foust announced that
the winner that named the shuttle will be at a Council Meeting in January 2009.

B. Introduction of Ordinance amending the Redwood City Municipal Code to conform
to the 2007 voter-approved Communication Users Tax.

Recommendation:
Introduce an ordinance repealing and adding a new section 32.501; amending
section 32.508; and repealing sections 32.502 and 32.506 of Article VII of Chapter
32 of the Redwood City Municipal Code with respect to the Utility Users Tax of the
City of Redwood City. Minute Order 08-234

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY REPEALING AND ADDING
A NEW SECTION 32.501 AND AMENDING SECTION 32.508 REPEALING
SECTIONS 32.502 AND 32.506 OF ARTICLE VII TO CHAPTER 32 OF THE
REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE WITH RESPECT TO THE UTILITY USERS
TAX

City Attorney Yamamoto explained this is a housekeeping matter for the purpose of
updating the municipal code book.
M/S Aguirre/Ira to introduce the ordinance. Motion carried unanimously by electronic
vote.

8.
