<br />G,JB <br />Attach~8~ 5 <br /> <br />Public Safety: <br /> <br />Street Closures and Public Parking Restrictions <br />Street closures and No Parking in the Festival area is to be enforced during the times listed as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Festival Area - no thru traffic and no parking <br />( July 3 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM July 4) <br />Middlefield from Marshall 5t to Veterans Blvd. <br />Bradford St. from Middlefield to Jefferson 5t. <br /> <br />Use of Pedestrian Barriers: <br />Request through the County DES the use of the steel pedestrian barriers for traffic control and <br />participant safety. The PCA will provide a list of times, locations, and quantity of barriers needed <br />for the Festival area. <br /> <br />3. The Fireworks Displav <br />The fireworks display is presented for viewing by residents of Redwood City from many locations. The <br />PCA will sponsor the high aerial display to be conducted by a licensed fireworks vendor and launched from <br />a barge in Redwood Creek <br /> <br />The Port of Redwood City requires a separate permit process and liability insurance in addition to any <br />process or permits obtain from Redwood City. <br /> <br />The display will begin at 9:30 pm on July 4th, and will last approximately 20 minutes. The fireworks vendor <br />has stated the materials in the show will be type 1.3G Aerial, class 3, up to 8 inches in diameter. The <br />fireworks vendor will obtain all necessary permits from the Coast Guard and local agencies. Copies of these <br />permits will be provided to the PCA. <br /> <br />The actual loading of fireworks launch equipment and display materials onto the barge will be done prior to <br />coming to Redwood City. The barge will arrive in the Port area prior to the show on July 4. <br /> <br />During the show, the barge will be positioned near the center of the turning basin between Wharf #5 and <br />Wharf#4. Due to the nature of tidal flows in/out of the turning basin, barge positioning may vary to maintain <br />the required safety zone. <br /> <br />Provisions for maintaininf! the Safety Zone <br />US Coast Guard regulations require a minimwll safety zone of 1,000 feet around the barge. Therefore, no <br />watercraft will be permitted to anchor or remain in the deep water turning basin during the display. The <br />PCA is requesting Police Department assistance with contacting the County for on-the-water enforcement of <br />the safety zone. The PCA will also request assistance from the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Sea Scouts of <br />the Pacific Skyline Council to provide ships to help define the safety perimeter and to keep water craft from <br />entering the safety zone. They will have radio communications and the ability to issue verbal warnings to <br />boaters that the area is closed.
