p;\
~

7A
Page 32

We have lived here for 26 years. We understand change happens to a neighborheod including growth,
but this is an extreme change and harmful not only to the neighborhood but also to the environment.

Environmental concerns: how can the plans state that there will be no negative impact on the
environment!

. Water, flooding issues
. Loss of sunlight for our yard/garden
. Cannot install solar panels now because we won't have the sunlight to collect it!
. Noise concerns
. Privacy concerns w/2-story homes 15' from our backyard fence
. Traffic/parking
. loss of open land - now will be paved and over built upon
. High density housing changes the micro climate of an area -lack of breeze, major change in
airflow, air/water/noise pollution......
. This will create the loss of many types of mature trees currently on the lots
. loss of habitat for local creatures: field mice, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, birds including a
pair of falcons that return each year to mate, mocking birds, wren, dove, etc.

Also, as homeowners whose land shares a common fence, we were not notified of this plan until the
beginning of April2009! We have been ignored. How could the plans state that the neighbors have had
no input? As neighbors, shouldn't we have been notified a long time ago when these plans were being
made? We have had just 3 days to look through the plans and drawings. As a civilian who has no real
knowledge of building plans and terminology, we should have had the chance to look these over for a
couple of weeks to even begin to understand what is being proposed.

How can it not impact the entire neighborhood when you are taking 1-1/2 acres of open land with two
buildings on it and replacing it with 24 homes, duplexes and townhouses? This is unreasonable and
seems extremely greedy on the builder and landowner's part. It should be "like ,for like" in a
neighborhood. If new buildings are to be constructed, they should be planned to "fit in" the
neighborhood as what is currently there.

April 16, 2009

& tuh\ wY W1-. ~tuvtL----
~a;L f ~ fjlJAdoyJ
I &DO Uvttb0 ftv1l1
ftrlwsoli ~CA- q~Dbl
(/;{o) 3~7~ O?- 7g

~ II:"~ (('0 iT -~ l~ rn\
~i'; OJ''' !, \\} "' 1~1
APR 1 ti 2U09 ~

CiTY OF HEL ilVOOD CITY
PLANNING SERVICES
