<br />SWC:SD <br />SWC:d <br /> <br />6/18/87 (#6) <br />7/20/87RR <br /> <br />nSection 2.38. <br /> <br />Fence. <br /> <br />An artificially constructed <br /> <br />barrier or wall or any material or combination of materials <br /> <br />erected to physically separate properties, provide privacy, <br /> <br />or provide security or confinement. Fence shall include the <br /> <br />term wall. <br /> <br />"The following definitions shall apply to certain types <br /> <br />of fences, as referenced in Article 36 of this Ordinance: <br /> <br />n (a) Open Fence. <br /> <br />Fence (including any gates in such <br /> <br />fence) which permits direct vision through at least 80% of <br /> <br />anyone square foot segment of vertical fence surface area. <br /> <br />This measured surface area shall not include major posts, <br /> <br />pilasters, <br /> <br />or other structures which provide lateral <br /> <br />strength. <br /> <br />The open area shall be uniformly distributed <br /> <br />along the fence and shall not be concentrated in one area <br /> <br />(along the entire length.) <br /> <br />No single component or element <br /> <br />of the fence, including lamp posts or pilasters, shall be <br /> <br />wider than 12 inches. <br /> <br />n(b) Solid Fence. <br /> <br />Fence (including any gates in such <br /> <br />fence) which permits direct vision through less than 80% of <br /> <br />anyone square foot segment of vertical fence surface area <br /> <br />more than 8 inches above grade. <br /> <br />n(c) Combination <br /> <br />Solid/Open <br /> <br />Fence. <br /> <br />Fence <br /> <br />which <br /> <br />incorporates both solid and open fences whereby the solid <br /> <br />portion is no higher than 3 feet above grade. <br /> <br />n(d) Decorative Fence. <br /> <br />Fence which has a distinctive <br /> <br />style, trim, color, or design, which matches or to some <br /> <br />degree complements the existing residence. <br /> <br />It may be <br /> <br />2 <br />
