Following a fire inspection that <br />was conducted on December 13, 2001, it has .come to our attention that theTe exist <br />.significant violations of the Fire Coda including, but .not limited to, inadequate fire alann <br />.and automatic fue exti~guishing systems, substandard kltch.en/cooking facilities and <br />inadequate classroom egress. You were im.mediately contacted and instru.cted.to meet <br />with City staff to add.ress these issues. On December 14., 2007, -you, .your wife Tf!resa <br />Azzarello, and your son Jason Azzarello., principal of Woodside Hms Christian <br />Academy, met with the following City .staff members.: ,Jill Ekas, Planning Manager, <br />Charles Jany, Current Planning Sup,ervisor1 J.ohn LaTorra, Chief Building Official, <br />Rebecca Lauricella, Fire Prevention Officer/Fire Investigator, and I, pr.oject pJanner for <br />the Redwood Baptist Church project. The focus Of the .meeting was to address Ufe <br />:safety concerns and to imp.lement additional :interim measures. As discussed in our <br />meetin.g, you have agreed to cease the foUowing .activities .immediatelv .as described <br />befow: .. . <br /> <br />1. Vacate the Secondary Classrooms: Effective .immediately, the Secondary SchooJ <br />located at the southerly portion of the property .shall be vacated and the students, <br />grades 7-12, shan be relocated to an appropriate .off-site location. Prior to their <br />relocation, we strongly urge you once again to obtain all clearances and approvals <br />from all applicable regulatory .ageneies. . <br /> <br />2. ()verall Use,: The overaJl intensity of the school use of the property shaU be Umited <br />to the previously approved .occupancies for the previous tenants i.e.) the Monte.ssori <br />Community School and Montessori Assistance .to Infancy Program. City records <br />.indicate that a maximum enrollment of approximateiy 60 children was allowed for <br />both uses. Based on the information you provided, the current enrollment is <br />approximately 101 .students, grades K-12, including approximately 36 students., <br />g:rades 7-12, occupying the Secondary Classrooms.. As an interim measure and <br />contingent upon Fire Department approvat, you will be allowed to keep a maximum <br />of 65 students, grades K-6, at a.ny given time in the classrooms located within the <br />FeUowship Hall .until a decision is rendered on the Use Permit ..applicat~on. In the <br />event that this interim measure is found to cause unmitigatable impacts :(:)r if any new <br />life safety issues are identified, said measure will be reviewed and adjusted as <br />deemed necessary. Under no circumstances .will students be allowed to .occupy <br />any of the classrooms utifn the subject property receives sa passjn.9 fire inspection <br />.and final approval from .P,lanning Servicesfo.r said interi.m measure. A separate <br />letter is bei.ng issued by the Fire D.epartm.ent mandating the school's cooperation to <br />implement .corrective :measures immediately to ensure the safety of all occupants. <br /> <br />3.
