I would also urge the exploration of the implications of SB 731 for the city of
Redwood City and future projects of this nature.
Also, I would appreciate the city's development of special considerations for areas such as our
residential neighborhood which so closely border commercial areas, specifically EI Camino
and the Woodside corridor, ?Is it applies to the general plan and business projects. It has been
my experience as a homeowner that business interests and their enhancements come at the
expense of our quiet residential enjoyment. Please don't get me wrong, I realize that we are
always growing, but there are compatibility issues. Noise, traffic circulation, hours of operation,
types of businesses,safety are important if you live beside a commercial zone. It has been my
belief that we need a "buffer" in some cases with more appropriate businesses ( An insurance
or accounting office, a furniture or an appliance store is preferable to a drive-through pharmacy
or other retail establishments which demand much of a residential neighborhood)
If we look at the prior use in this particular project, we see that the former pool supply store
had a couple of trucks parked in the back and operated 9-5,and serviced pools off site. This
was compatible with the residential neighborhood. The current business is not.

Thank you for your dedica tion to Redwood City,
Sincerely I
Sue Story
102 Center St
Redwood City

March 15, 2009

Sailesh Mehra
City of Redwood City
Planning Services
l01720Middlefield Road
Redwood City, CA 94064-0391 .
<l--[if IsupportLineBreakNewLine]-->
<!~-[endif]-->

Dear Ms. Mehra and Planning Department Members,

I am writing in response to Project request # UP2009-03, the application for a massage establishment at 515
Woodside Rd.

I opposed to this use permit approval on the grounds of inadequate parking, a negative impact on the
immediate residential area, current business owners, traffic circulation and pedestrian safety and walkability.

7/8/2009
