One Council Member would like to see the two businesses complement each other
instead of competing. She would like to see the Council move forward with the lease
tonight but hopes that the two business owners will discuss and find common ground.
Another Council Member explained that competition is good and often there are finro
"taquerias" on the same block but they specialize in different items. One Council Member
suggested a neutral third party to mediate the issue. One Council Member would like to
have staff run the lease, and another Council Member would like to revisit the matter and
have a chance to ponder on this. Mayor Foust would support having the finro business
owners discuss the matter and reach an agreement.
M/S Pierce/Bain to approve the lease with the hope that the two owners will have a
discussion about the issues.
One Council Member asked if the Daily Boost can appeal and Mr. Yamamoto said no
because this is the final decision. Mr. Ingram said this will be delayed if it has to come
back to Council. Motion carries 4-3 with three Council Members opposing (Foust,
Aguirre and Hartnett).
6.1 Section - Motions
A.
