6.G. - Page 17 of 23 <br />Page 17 <br />Top Policy Areas Identified: In addition to the comprehensive bill reports that are sent to the City in <br />advance of each bi-weekly call, bills that touch on the issues outlined below will be highlighted and <br />brough to the City's attention. Below is a list of top policy areas identified by each Redwood City <br />department director: <br />• Legislation that would modify (reduce) development impact fees. <br />o Identified by City Managers Department, Parks and Recreation, Fire Department, <br />Community Development/Transportation Department. <br />• General funding shortfall issues (excess ERAF, COVID funding relief etc.). <br />o Identified by City Manager's Department, Fire/Police Department(s) <br />• Legislation that deals with fuels mitigation, vegetation management and fire prevention. <br />o Identified by Fire Department as well as Parks and Recreation Department. <br />• More tools to promote (housing) production, concern on year -over -year increased density <br />requirements. <br />o Identified by City Managers Department <br />• New COVID-19 worker protection (legislative and regulatory) <br />o Identified by Finance Department and Human Resources Department. <br />Top Funding Priorities Identified: Below is a list of top funding priorities identified by each Redwood <br />City department director. RPPG has provided a short list of potential grant opportunities (at the <br />conclusion of this report). As noted by the Admin/Finance Department, Redwood City has established <br />a staff "grants" working group. RPPG will assist as needed in consulting with the working group to <br />further explore these or other potential grant opportunities. In addition to state and federal grants, <br />RPPG will explore the State's budget, potential state bond proposals that aim to support the <br />following: <br />• Funding for increased fuels mitigation, vegetation management and clean up, defensible <br />space, fire prevention technology. <br />o Identified by Fire Department as well as Parks and Recreation Department. <br />• Funding for Bay Area water contamination, veteran's memorial/ senior center, and after <br />school programs <br />o Identified by Parks and Recreation Department <br />• Funding for infill projects/ very low-income housing, funding for COVID-19 related rental <br />assistance. <br />o Identified by City Managers Department <br />• Funding for Sea Level Rise study <br />o Identified by Public Works Department <br />319 <br />
