6.G. - Page 20 of 23 <br />Page 110 <br />Analysis: Grant period will open beginning of 2021. <br />The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER) <br />This was created to provide funding directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest <br />organizations to help them increase or maintain the number of trained, "front line" firefighters <br />available in their communities. The goal of SAFER is to enhance the local fire departments' abilities <br />to comply with staffing, response and operational standards established by the NFPA (NFPA 1710 <br />and/or NFPA 1720). <br />Analysis: The SAFER program has been used by municipalities and Fire districts to fund the cost of <br />additional firefighters over a three-year period. Historically, this grant program required a local <br />match, but the most recent SAFER program was amended to eliminate the local match requirement <br />prior to the closing of grant submissions due to the financial challenges created by COVID-19. <br />California Fire Foundation Grants <br />The California Fire Foundation offers grant opportunities available to fire departments, firefighter <br />associations and community organizations serving the residents of California to address tragic events <br />such as wildfires, floods, and climate -caused disasters. <br />Analysis: These are typically Smaller dollar amount and the grant period typically opens in the <br />summer. Funding priorities include personal protective equipment (PPE), Specialized Firefighting <br />Equipment, Mitigation & Fuels Reduction, First Responder Training, Fire Prevention Education & <br />Planning and Community Outreach & Preparedness. Applications typically open in early spring. <br />Public Safety <br />Office of Traffic Safety <br />The goal of the annual program is to prevent serious injury and death resulting from motor vehicle <br />crashes so that all roadway users arrive at their destination safely. Priority areas for the program <br />include alcohol impaired driving, distracted driving, emergency medical services, pedestrian and <br />bicycle safety, and public relations and marketing programs. <br />Analysis: Grant applications are due January 30, 2021 <br />Law Enforcement Opportunity Driving Under the Influence/Driving Under the Influence of Drugs <br />The purpose of the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program (CTFGP) is to disperse grant funds from The <br />Control, Regulate, and Tax Adult Use Marijuana Act (AUMA) to local governments and qualified <br />nonprofit organizations for the education, prevention, and enforcement of impaired driving laws <br />pursuant to Revenue and Taxation Code Section 34019. <br />Analysis: Anticipated open date January 2021. Application deadline February 23, 2021. Expected <br />award announcement May 11-16, 2021.
