Phase 1 of this
project, covered under separate contract, included the exploration in support of this scope.

The associated tasks under Phase 2 include the following:

1. The samples collected during Phase 1 will be reexamined in our laboratory to verify field
classifications and will be tested for moisture content, dry unit weight, Plasticity Index, shear
strength, consolidation, and other physical properties, as appropriate.

2. Based on the geological and geotechnical data gathered, we will prepare an exploration
report documenting our services and addressing the following:

. Discussion of the field operations and laboratory testing completed for this scope of
services.

. Physical properties of the typical soils encountered in the project area.

. Assessment of geologicaVgeotechnical hazards at the subject site and in the general
project area, as appropriate, including shallow groundwater, faulting, levee bank stability,
expansive soils, liquefiable soils, and soft compressible soils.

. Characterization of the extents of soft compressible materials in the upper portion of the
profile along the levee.

. Characterization of strength, stress history, and consolidation parameter profiles for
compressible materials along the levee.

. Seepage both through-levee and under-levee during design flood events.

. Treatment of geotechnical constraints such as expansive soils, levee bank stability,
compressible soils, shallow groundwater, and liquefiable soils, as necessary.

. Conclusions and recommendations for levee raise alternatives, such as fill placement and
flood walls.

Design Assistance Meetings and Consultation

As required, we will interface with the design team during preparation of project plans and
specifications. We will provide review of the project plans to confIrm that our geotechnical
recommendations were incorporated. As necessary, we will prepare conceptual sections
showing potential options for levee raise. We will attend necessary project kickoff meetings and
design meetings with you andlor the client, as requested by you. We will assist you where
