<br />Jim Bigelow, from the Redwood City San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce, spoke <br />about a recent report on High Speed Rails. He said the report covers what will be studied, <br />the timeline, and the funding. He encouraged people to read the report. <br /> <br />Pat Dixon encourages the public to visit the Redwood Shores Library inside and outside. <br />She said it is an interesting place with a nice hiking path alongside the Northern side of the <br />slough, places to sit and enjoy the view, and she also noted that during high tide, it is <br />possible to see seals cavorting in the water. <br /> <br />Lynn Chou Jonas, representing the Citizens to Protect Redwood City (CPRC), said they <br />are a grassroots, non-partisan Political Action Committee whose mission is to develop and <br />distribute in-depth information and details on issues that will have an impact on the <br />citizens of Redwood City. She provided a handout to the Council and spoke about a High <br />Speed Rail Community Workshop they will have at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, <br />2009 at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. She said high speed rail will affect the <br />community and the workshop is to promote dialogue where participants will be divided into <br />small groups with a trained facilitator and that the results with be shared with Council and <br />other groups. She said more information can be found at their website on <br />www.protectredwoodcity.org. <br /> <br />Cherlene Wright spoke about Threshold 2009 and the last two community conversation <br />meetings are this week: Tuesday, August 25th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Fair Oaks <br />Community Center and this will be bilingual and on Saturday, August 29th from 10 am to 1 <br />pm. She said their mission is to educate the public on housing needs, specifically in <br />Redwood City, and that more information can be found on the city's website or at <br />www.threshold2009.org. <br /> <br />Mayor Foust read the titles of all the items to be voted on via the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />M!S Hartnett/I ra to approve the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br />Council Member Aguirre pulled agenda item 6.3 A asking how this will be released to the <br />community. City Manager Ingram said that he will work with Public Information Manager <br />Smith on this matter. It was suggested that churches and other community centers be <br />included in the outreach. City Manager Ingram thanked Council Member Aguirre for the <br />thoughtfulness of her remarks. <br />Motion carried unanimously by electronic vote. <br /> <br />6.1 Section - Motions <br /> <br />A.
