The current Maguire Correctional Facility in Downtown creates adverse <br />conditions. <br /> <br />7. "Our PlaceJJ Child Care Center} which is adjacent to the Motor Pool Site} provides a critically needed <br />service in the community and in Downtown in particular. <br /> <br />8. A jail does not create a positive gateway image for Redwood City. <br /> <br />9. Downtown includes low-income household census tracts. Siting the replacement jail in Downtown <br />where one jail facility already exists raises environmental justice concerns. <br /> <br />Closed Dodge Dealership Study Site <br /> <br />1. The site is immediately adjacent to a relatively low-density residential neighborhood. <br /> <br />2. The historic Mezesville neighborhood is immediately adjacent to the site. <br /> <br />3. The replacement jail would cut off a planned street connection/transition from the adjacent <br />neighborhoods to Veterans Boulevard. <br /> <br />4. The General Plan Housing Element identifies the Dodge Site as a key housing opportunity site to help <br />the City achieve its Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RH NA) objectives. <br /> <br />5.
