The utility replacement (sanitary sewer) will extend along the following locations:
· Manzanita Street approximately 800 feet between EI Camino and Shasta,
· Shasta Street approximately 300 feet between Manzanita and Spruce,
· Spruce Street approximately 600 feet between Shasta and Heller,
· Heller Street approximately 800 feet between Spruce and Chestnut,
· Pine Street approximately 950 feet between Heller to Main.
Cuts and backfills are assumed to be less than 15 feet. If the project differs significantly, we
should be contacted to review the applicability of our scope of services.

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF WORK

The purpose of this geotechnical investigation will be to perform subsurface exploration at
the site of the proposed jack and bore operations adjacent to SamTrans/JPB railroad. As
such, we will be characterizing the soils as they relate to design recommendations of the
bore and jack casings. We will also consider asphalt concrete pavement design, cut and
cover utility trench installation, and earthwork construction considerations. Our scope of
services will include site reconnaissance, subsurface exploration, laboratory testing,
engineering analysis, and report preparation as detailed below. Environmental services are
specifically excluded.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

Boring Site Coordination and Permitting

An encroachment permit issued from the City of Redwood City is necessary before
beginning field activities at the site. Prior to the site exploration, our representatives would
work with a liaison from the City of Redwood City to obtain access to the proposed
exploratory drilling sites to mark the proposed boring sites for Underground Service Alert
(USA) clearance. The use of a private utility locator is included for this site due to the
presence of active utilities.

Geotechnical Engineering Investigation

We propose to explore the subsurface conditions by total of seven (7) borings along the
proposed improvement areas as designated by the city (see attachments):

· two borings along Spruce Street on either side of the railway,

· two borings along Pine Street on either side of the railway, and

· one boring along Heller Street between Pine and Chestnut.

· two borings along Manzanita Street between EI Camino and Shasta

The borings will be drilled to a depth of about 20 feet below the ground surface or to
essential refusal, whichever comes first. Samples will be collected from the borings using

01201 PROP (SJ09P133) ct Page 2 of 7
Copyright 2009 Kleinfelder

KLEINFELDER 2011 N.
