REV: 12-22-21 JB
2.The new electro-magnetic flowmeter, valves, couplings, adapters, fittings,
pressure gauges, pipe supports and other appurtenances will be housed in the
new vault for ease of accessibility, inspection, maintenance and repair.
3.The existing blower system will be removed and replaced with a suitably designed
new blower system and vent pipes.
4.Alternatively, a PURAFIL odor control system will also be recommended for City’s
consideration and approval.
Electrical Equipment & Control System
1.The station's existing motor control center (MCC) will be replaced with an updated
new MCC with NEMA4 cabinet enclosures including all essential electrical
components such as; circuit breakers, transformers, power relays, timers, starters,
automatic transfer switch (ATS), etc., as required
2.Motor control center cabinet will be adequately sized to fit all components and
incorporate SCADA and PG&E meter, as applicable.
3.The existing VFD will be removed and replaced with a new compatible variable
frequency drive (VFD) for each pump including all components and appurtenances
to support submersible pumps as required.
4.An updated sanitary sewer programmable logic controller (PLC) will be designed
and included in the station improvements.
5.All existing electrical connections and electrical load capacity will be verified to
conform to the installation of new sanitary sewer pump station's motor control
center, PLC unit and new submersible pumps. Replacement and upsizing will be
made as needed.
6.Consultant team will coordinate with utility companies to obtain record information
that maybe affected by the design or construction of the sanitary sewer pump
station.
7.Consultant team will coordinate with the City’s SCADA consultant, Telstar
Instruments, for SCADA control system programming work with Suresh Patil, at
916-646-1999, the City designated Consultant. DTN will provide design and
construction support services for the PLC unit and SCADA control system
programming and integration work. The Consultant team understands that the City
will use Telstar Instruments to provide services for checking and reviewing the
electrical design drawings and the SCADA control system programming and
integration work.
8.SCADA PLC, phone communication and associated accessories will follow
Redwood City Standards. However, the Consultant team strongly recommends
the use of a cellular-based system which currently is the trend in the SCADA
system and has higher reliability as compared to the leased line phone system
that the City of Redwood City has been using.
9.Consultant team recommends and will use a non-contact Ultrasonic level
transmitter to monitor wet well level for full automatic control by the PLC based on
ATTY/AGR.2021.331/BKF Engineers (Sanitary Sewer Pump Station No. 8 and No. 9 Design) (Page 12 of 23)
