Park Design
Subtask DA: Concept Plans
Consultant will prepare three alternative design concepts for the park at the Lot A location.
One of the three alternatives specifically addresses the potential involvement of moving
historic structures on the adjacent private parcel. Prepare two alternative design concepts
for the park at the City Hall/ Downtown parking lot location.
Consultant will prepare one overall plan with key feature alternatives for the Redwood
Creek Trail area. The plan will illustrate the trail alignment and associated amenities as
well as indicate each parcel. Prepare an overall, high level connectivity map showing
open space in the downtown area and the connectivity between spaces. The concepts
will illustrate new and existing facilities, amenities, green infrastructure, circulation, and
parking. Connectivity will also address the connection options from the downtown area to
the Bay Trail.
Consultant will prepare an event map/heat map exhibit to show each downtown public
open space and the various events that occur at each during the year. The exhibit will
also show the adjacent business districts that may influence and benefit from the events.
This exhibit will help show the public how the new designs for the urban parks compliment
and coordinate with other downtown open space related to shade.
In addition to an overall design concept of each of the three sites, the Consultant will
prepare supporting graphics for key features, character imagery, diagrams, and/or
vignette drawings. Graphics for the alternatives may be more conceptual and "sketchy"
in nature. Plans will become more refined in Subtask D.2. Plans will be based on a
combination of results from the Study, input from the City staff, stakeholders, focus
groups, pop-up open house event, community workshops, surveys, and social media
outreach efforts. The design team will consult with City staff regarding potential
parameters for design including reasonable expectations for construction costs and
practical implementation strategies. Wayfinding concepts will incorporate existing City
plans and signage standards. Wayfinding concepts will be conceptual. As part of this task,
coordinate with the City's multi -modal transportation engineer to integrate route specific
recommendations from the Citywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan with this effort.
Deliverables:
Two (2) alternative concepts for the City Hall parking lot park site -may be black and white or
color
• Three (3) alternative concepts for Lot A park site - may be black and white or color
REV: 08-04-2021 RL
ATTY/AGR 2021 207/RRM (Downtown Parks and Bay Connectivity Project) (Page 16 of 32)
