Egress Analysis – The building permit application plans shall include an egress <br />analysis showing compliance with CBC Chapter 10. <br /> <br />21. Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS) – An emergency <br />responder radio coverage system (ERRCS) is required. [CFC §510.1] Provide plans <br />and calculations in accordance with NFPA 72 Chapter 7 Documentation and NFPA <br />1221 Emergency Services Communications Systems as a deferred submittal for the <br />design of the emergency responder radio coverage system (ERRCS). <br /> <br />22. Public Safety Key Boxes – Approved Knox key boxes must be located adjacent to <br />the building entrance. [CFC §506.1] The public safety key boxes must be recessed <br />and installed adjacent to each entrance within 60 to 72 inches of the finished walking <br />surface. Each public safety key box must contain four sets of keys, with each set <br />containing a key for building access, fire equipment room access, fire cache room, <br />elevator keys, utility room keys, and other keys essential for emergency operations. <br /> <br />23. Aerial Fire Apparatus Access – Buildings greater than 30 feet in height require <br />aerial (ladder truck) fire apparatus access, positioned parallel to the long side of the <br />building. No overhead utility or power lines, horizontal or vertical fixed obstructions <br />are to be located along the aerial fire apparatus access road, nor can they be located <br />between the aerial fire apparatus access road and the building that may obstruct <br />aerial fire apparatus operations. [CFC Appendix D§105.1] <br /> <br />24. Fire Apparatus Access Roads – An approved fire apparatus access road must be <br />provided [CFC §503.1.1] The approved AMMR shall be placed on the building permit <br />application plans. <br /> <br />25. Required Fire Flow – Based on the proposed construction type of Type II-A and <br />allowing for a 50% reduction due to the installation of automatic fire sprinklers <br />meeting section 903.3.1.1 of the 2019 CFC (NFPA 13), the required fire flow for this <br />project is 1,625 GPM at 20 psi residual pressure. [CFC §507.1] Based on the <br />required fire flow of 1,625 GPM at 20 psi residual pressure, the required number of <br />fire hydrants is one with a spacing of 500 feet in accordance with Appendix C of the <br />CFC. <br /> <br />26. Automatic Fire Sprinkler System – All new buildings or structures, with a total floor <br />area of three thousand (3,000) square feet or more are required to be equipped with <br />an automatic fire sprinkler system. [CFC §903.2.13 and §12.18 of the Redwood City <br />Municipal Code] Provide plans and hydraulic calculations as a deferred submittal for <br />the design of the fire sprinkler system. <br /> <br />27. Fire Hydrant Placement and Fire Department Connection (FDC) – Buildings <br />equipped with a standpipe system installed in accordance with CFC §905 or a fire <br />sprinkler system complying with CFC §903.3.1.1 must have a fire hydrant within 50- <br />feet of the fire department connection and located on the same side of the roadway. <br />[CFC §507.5.1 as amended by the City]
