Fire Pump: Power Supplies – Electrically driven fire pumps shall be provided with <br />an alternate power source in accordance with NFPA 20, Fire Pumps, due to <br />foreseeable extended electrical service interruptions along the California Power <br />Grid. Please have the permit applicant submit details on alternate power supplies. <br />[CFC §913.2.3 and Redwood City Code of Ordinances §12.19] <br /> <br />29. Fire Alarm System – A fully addressable fire alarm system is required to be installed <br />throughout the building, and in compliance with the building permit date <br />contemporary edition NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. The fire <br />alarm system must also be supervised by an Underwriters Laboratories certified <br />central station monitoring service. Provide plans and calculations in accordance with <br />NFPA 72 Chapter 7 Documentation as a deferred submittal for the design of the fire <br />alarm system and identify the company providing supervising services. <br /> <br />30. Premise Identification – Address Numbers – All buildings must be provided with <br />address identification that is legible and placed in a position that is visible from the <br />street or road facing the street from which the building takes the address, numbers <br />to be a minimum size of 12-inches in height, with contrasting background, and all <br />address numbers to be illuminated and visible from the street during darkness. [CFC <br />§ 505.1 and City of Redwood City Code, Ordinances §9.48] <br /> <br />31. Elevator Car to Accommodate Ambulance Stretcher – All buildings with one or <br />more passenger service elevators must be provided with not less than one medical <br />emergency service elevator to all landings meeting the provisions of CBC Section <br />3002.4a. <br /> <br />32. Fire Equipment Enclosure – Buildings of four or more stories in height must have <br />a secure enclosed area for post-event overhaul supplies. The room or cabinet must <br />measure not less than 8-feet by 6-feet and must be stocked with the items as <br />required by the Redwood City Fire Department. [CFC §907.2.12.3.1-D as amended <br />by the City of Redwood City Code of Ordinances §12.23] <br /> <br />33. Class I Automatic Wet Standpipe Hose Station Outlets – Automatic wet <br />standpipes are required to be installed in all stairways on the intermediate stair <br />landing and on the rooftop. [CFC §905] Fire pump is to be located in the fire pump <br />room as referenced in the plans. Electric fire pumps are to be backed up on <br />emergency power fed from the diesel-powered emergency generators within the <br />generator room. [CFC §913.2.3 and §12.24.1 of the Redwood City Municipal Code] <br /> <br />34. Fire Hydrant and Sprinkler System Feed Lines – All water mains providing a <br />water supply for fire protection, both to fire hydrants and to fire service systems, <br />must be not less than eight inches in diameter. [CFC §507.1.1 as amended by the <br />City of Redwood City Code of Ordinances §12.16]. <br />
