<br />6.1E <br />Page 38 <br /> <br />Permits Reauired for Events <br />A permit is required for any activity in the Courthouse Square under one or more of the <br />following circumstances: <br /> <br />1. The activity requires, or is reasonably likely to require, City services including <br />but not limited to: set up and/or clean up; police or fire protection; utilities such <br />as electricity; <br /> <br />2. The activity includes the placement of any temporary structure, including but <br />not limited to any sign, stage, booth, canopy, barrier, fence, table, chair, or <br />tent; <br /> <br />3. The activity includes, but is not limited to: <br />a. Fifty or more attendees; <br />b. Driving or placing vehicles (e.g., cars".-1r.UCks,. vans) onto the Square; <br />c. Using amplified equipment, loud speaker~ or other device ten decibels <br />above local ambient sound rn~asured 1,QO feet from th.e CQurthouse <br />Square property line for more ulan (fve (5) n1'it)~tes between the hours of 7 <br />a.m. to 11 p.m. every day per organization; . <br />d. Accepting donations; <br />e. Soliciting; <br />f. Selling, bartering, or excha.r1t.ging goods or services;. <br />g. Charging admission; . <br />h. Possessing, serving, consuming, or seIHng alcoholic beverages; or <br />i. Cooking, open flame and/o"r food 'preparatldh: except candles which shall <br />be used in iccordance with the City's Fir~ Code. <br /> <br />4. The activlt}( includes constructing or maintaining any temporary structures <br />such as tents at any other shelters that may be used for overnight sleeping or <br />camptng accommod~tions ~n the SCfuare; <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />5. ihe pers6n or persons engaged in the activity seek to exclude, or to have the <br />right to excluqe, any memb~r of the public from the activity or from any area <br />of the Courthou.se Square, or the activity is such that it interferes with other <br />persons' right to' use the Square; or <br /> <br />6. A Redwood City! Co-Produced Event. <br /> <br />Permit Exemgtions <br /> <br />The following activities are exempt from the Courthouse Square Event Permit process <br />but remain subject to all other applicable City or County regulations and/or State or <br />Federal laws: <br /> <br />A. First Amendment <br />Assembly of persons, if the assembly does not include any of the following: <br />temporary structures, sales of commercial merchandise, food or beverages, or <br />any of the other characteristics of a Courthouse Square Event as described in <br /> <br />Page 5 of /J <br />
