7

1.3.2. Securing Funding
Redwood City and the County Transportaon Authority have contributed approximately
$33 million towards planning, environmental review, and engineering design to get the
Project to this point. The local governments have also commited $185 million for ROW
and Construcon.
However, an addional $186 million is sll needed to provide the Project’s $308M total
cost. Funding Plans have been developed (link to folder) and effecve communicaons
will be crical to its success.
Stakeholder contacts and requests for support and advocacy will be coordinated
through the Consultant Project Manager with support from the team’s Stakeholder and
Communicaons Lead.

2. Communicaon Plan
The purpose of the Communicaons Plan is to communicate the “reimagined” aspects of the
project and highlight the issues that the new design is intended to solve. This Plan is a living
document and is intended to cover the near-term ROW and funding gap work as described
above.

This Communicaon Plan will accomplish the following:

a. Provide focused messaging surrounding the rebranding, highlighng benefits for
stakeholders and funding partners.
b. Clarify roles between the City, partner agencies, and the Consultant team.
c. Outline and develop project communicaon tools and processes necessary for
stakeholder engagement and outreach.
2.1. Goals for Communications Effort
There are four goals for the external communicaon efforts for the current phase of the
project:
1. Partner with community organizaons, property owners, developers, area businesses,
and other stakeholders to develop and maintain partnerships for support of grant and
other funding opportunies.
2. Support right-of-way acvies of the project team, as requested.
3. Maintain consensus and garner momentum around the adopted Project design.
4. Prepare Project partners and affected community for Construcon phase
communicaon.
