Page 4 of 6 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />will increase from 2.5% to 5% of base salary in recognition of additional duties pertaining to the support <br />of departmental EMS operations. <br />UNIFORM ALLOWANCE: <br />Effective July 1, 2024, replace current MOU language that provides for a uniform allowance of $800.00 <br />per fiscal year paid out in equal bi-weekly installments, with the City providing for all employees <br />represented by the bargaining unit with cleaning, altering, repairing, and/or replacement of damaged <br />uniforms as authorized by the Fire Chief or their designee, with the cost of uniform issuance, repair and <br />replacement not to exceed $900.00 per fiscal year per employee, unless authorized by the Fire Chief. Such <br />furnished uniforms shall remain the property of and under the control of the City. The Finance <br />Department will calculate the total cost of cleaning, altering, repairing, and/or replacement of damaged <br />uniforms. The total cost will be divided by the number of employees in the bargaining unit with the <br />resulting quotient being periodically reported to CalPERS as reportable compensation for eligible <br />employees in the bargaining unit in accordance with PERS rules and regulations, not to exceed $1,150.00 <br />per fiscal year (including $900.00 per fiscal year for uniform issuance, repair, and replacement, and up to <br />$250.00 per fiscal year for cleaning). In accordance with Government Code Section 7522.34(c)(7), this <br />provision shall not apply to new members as defined by the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act <br />(PEPRA). <br />SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR PAY: <br />Language being added to reflect that designation to the Marine Unit Lead Fire Captain assignment will not <br />exceed three years in length; however, the assignment may be extended on a year-to-year basis, on <br />approval of the Fire Chief. Also, if the Fire Chief determines that a Fire Captain who is a qualified Fire Boat <br />Pilot is required to staff the Fire Boat during a shift, the Fire Captain may be assigned as Fire Boat Pilot on <br />a shift-by shift-basis, and will receive 5% of base pay for hours worked during the shift. <br />PARAMEDIC FIELD TRAINING OFFICER PAY: <br />Effective the first full pay period following City Council approval of a successor MOU in 2024, <br />Firefighter/Engineer Paramedics who are assigned to perform and do perform field training duties on <br />behalf of the Redwood City Fire Department shall receive an incentive of 5% of base pay, paid only during <br />time spent training Paramedics and/or Paramedic Trainees. <br />ANNUAL VACATION CASH OUT: <br />Add language to provide that an employee may elect to receive compensation in lieu of a portion of <br />accrued and unused vacation leave credits for any calendar year by requesting payment of unused <br />vacation leave in writing on or before December 31st of the calendar year prior to the year in which leave <br />is accrued. Accumulated vacation leave benefits for years prior to such calendar year shall not be eligible <br />for cash-out. Eligibility for vacation cash-out shall be subject to the employee’s annual accrual rate as of <br />December 31st of the prior calendar year, and employee must meet minimum accrued vacation balance <br />at time of election, minimum vacation utilization during calendar year in which leave is accrued, and meet <br />minimum remaining vacation balance after cash-out is completed. For those employees who do not meet <br />the minimum remaining vacation balance after cash-out is completed, the cash-out amount will be <br />reduced by the amount necessary in order to retain the minimum remaining vacation balance required. <br />6.A. - Page 4 of 99 <br />11
