<br />15 <br /> <br />amount left on the loan if they serve less than two (2) years as a <br />Redwood City assigned Paramedic. <br /> <br />C. Training Incentive: The parties agree that participation in this <br />training program is voluntary and provides participants with <br />training in a new skill for their benefit in potentially becoming a <br />licensed Paramedic. The City shall pay an incentive of twenty <br />thousand dollars ($20,000) for those employees accepted into <br />the Paramedic Training Program while attending training. The <br />Training Incentive will be paid at the following intervals: <br /> <br /> $5,000 – Acceptance into the Paramedic Training Program <br /> $5,000 – Successful completion of didactic training <br /> $5,000 – Successful completion of clinical training <br /> $5,000 - Successful completion of paramedic licensing and <br />San Mateo County Accreditation <br /> <br />D. If an employee voluntarily withdraws from any portion of the <br />Paramedic Training Program, the employee shall refund the City <br />the most recent payment of $5,000 within sixty (60) days. Fire <br />Management shall be responsible to notify HR and Finance <br />Departments regarding the refund. <br /> <br />E. Employees who are removed from the Paramedic Training <br />Program for violation of City or program rules may also be subject <br />to disciplinary action. <br /> <br />F. Any employee who is accepted into a paramedic training program <br />under this section shall be considered to be active and full-time <br />employees of the City at all times and subject to all terms and <br />conditions of this MOU, including all pay and benefits. <br /> <br />Both parties agree to discuss operational details or issues that arise <br />as a result of this program. Firefighter/Engineers may request to <br />participate in a paramedic training program, in furtherance of the <br />employee’s position, at the City’s expense. Such participation shall <br />be subject to the approval of the Fire Chief. <br /> <br />7.6.6 Captain’s Paramedic Pay - Compensation to Fire Captains who obtain <br />and maintain certification in auxiliary medical techniques. Effective <br />the first full pay period following city Council approval of a successor <br />MOU in 2024, uUpon approval of the Fire Chief, Fire Captains who <br />obtain and maintain accreditation to practice as Paramedics in San <br />Mateo County will receive an additional five percent (5%) two and <br />6.A. - Page 26 of 99 <br />33
