<br />17 <br /> <br />employee’s regular straight-time rate for all hours the employee is so ordered <br />to appear with a minimum of four (4) hours. Any fees received by the employee <br />for their testimony will be turned into the City for deposit into the general fund. <br /> <br />7.8 Call-back Pay <br /> <br />If a regular classified employee of the Fire Department, who has completed the <br />normal shift or tour of duty, is called back to work, that employee shall, upon <br />reporting for duty, receive a minimum of three (3) hours' work at the <br />employee’s overtime rate. Work in excess of three (3) hours will be paid at <br />the employee’s overtime rate. This provision does not apply to instances in <br />which the employee is required to continue to remain on duty after completion <br />of a normal shift or tour of duty. <br /> <br />7.9 On Call Pay <br /> <br />Forty (40) hour workweek employees may occasionally be offered, and may <br />accept the offer, to be “on call”. For the Deputy Fire Marshal and Fire <br />Prevention Officers, on call duty will be assigned in accordance with applicable <br />Department hiring rules. <br /> <br />On call pay and on call schedules are subject to the prior approval of the Fire <br />Chief. For every twenty-four (24) hours assigned to on call duty, 40-hour <br />workweek employees shall be compensated with three (3) hours straight-time <br />pay or three (3) hours of straight time compensatory time off. The 24-hour on <br />call duty shall begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 8:00 a.m. on the following day. If, <br />while serving on call, the employee is called in to work, the employee shall <br />receive pay for the hours worked. This shall be in addition to the three (3) hours <br />of straight time pay / compensatory time off received while on call. <br /> <br />Employees who receive on call pay shall be required to answer their phones or <br />return missed calls within ten (10) minutes. Employees on call shall depart for <br />the Department within ten (10) minutes of receiving a call to return. <br /> <br />7.10 Acting Pay <br /> <br />7.10.1 The City shall, whenever practical, assign to acting positions those <br />employees who have demonstrated their ability to perform the <br />duties of the higher classification in accordance with the criteria for <br />selection in the Department Lexipol Policy Manual. It is understood, <br />that employees selected to perform the duties of a higher <br />classification will be those who have achieved the top step of their <br />regular classification.
