<br />19 <br /> <br /> <br />Education Incentive Pay will be effective the first pay period following <br />submission of the applicable, official records of completion to the Personnel <br />Officer. Official records of completion shall consist of the official transcr ipt of <br />study for the college credit requirement, diplomas for degree requirements, and <br />State Fire Training certificates for certification requirements. For the purpose of <br />Section 7.12.3, “successful completion” of a State Fire Training certificate shall <br />be defined as: <br /> <br />1. Receipt of the California State Fire Training certificate, or <br />2. Completion of the coursework required for the certification, and completion <br />of as much of the certification task book as possible at the employee’s <br />current rank, subject to the approval of the Redwood City Fire Department <br />Training Officer. <br /> <br />For the purposes of this Section 7.12, an accredited college or university means <br />an institution accredited as a community or junior college, or accredited as a <br />senior college or university with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges <br />and/or an accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher <br />Education Accreditation (CHEA). <br /> <br />The maximum Education Incentive Pay available under this Section 7.12 is the <br />equivalent of five percent (5%) of Base Pay. <br /> <br />Education Incentive Pay shall be paid as follows: <br /> <br /> 7.12.1 College Credits: <br />A. Employees in the classifications of Firefighter/Engineer and Fire <br />Captain hired by the City prior to January 1, 2019, who have <br />successfully completed thirty (30) college credits, twenty-four (24) of <br />which are in Fire Science and six (6) in Related Electives, including <br />Emergency Medical Training, will receive the equivalent of two and <br />one-half percent (2.5%) Base Pay. <br /> <br />Employees may not simultaneously receive Education Incentive Pay <br />under this Section 7.12.1(A), and two and one-half percent (2.5%) <br />Education Incentive Pay for an Associate of Science (A.S.) or Associate <br />of Arts (A.A) degree under Section 7.12.2(A). <br /> <br />B. Employees in the classifications of Firefighter/Engineer and Fire <br />Captain hired by the City prior to January 1, 2019, who have <br />successfully completed sixty (60) college credits, twenty-four (24) of <br />which are in Fire Science, including Emergency Medical Training, will <br />6.A. - Page 30 of 99 <br />37
