<br />12 <br /> <br />circumstances may require, assist in liaison efforts to advance bilingual <br />communication with community members or organizations. Law <br />enforcement personnel may also be required to assist in investigations <br />where specific bilingual language skills are identified to assist in an active <br />or ongoing investigation. <br /> <br />7.5.3 Bilingual skills shall not be a condition of employment. <br />7.5.4 Employees with proficiency or fluency in the following languages will be <br />eligible for Emergency Responder Bilingual Premium Pay: Spanish, <br />Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Russian, and American Sign <br />Language. <br /> <br />7.5.5 Employees with proficiency and/or fluency in more than one language listed <br />in section “7.5.4” will not be permitted to earn Emergency Responder <br />Bilingual Premium Pay of more than seven and one-half percent (7.5%) of <br />top step base pay for Police Officer. <br /> <br />7.6 Officer-In-Charge Pay <br /> <br />When a Police Officer is assigned by the Police Chief or their designee to act as the <br />Officer-In-Charge for a period of two (2) hours or more, such Police Officer shall <br />be paid an additional five percent (5%) of their regular hourly rate of pay for all <br />hours so assigned. <br /> <br />7.7 Court Pay <br /> <br />Effective October 29, 2018, an off-duty employee who is mandated to appear in <br />court in cases in which the City is a party shall be compensated at one and one-half <br />(1-1/2) times the employee's regular straight-time rate for all hours the employee is <br />so ordered by the City to appear with a minimum of five (5) hours. Employees <br />appearing in court during times adjacent to their regularly scheduled shifts shall be <br />compensated as follows: <br /> <br />7.7.1 Any employee whose work shift ends at 7:00 a.m., who is subpoenaed to <br />appear in court at 9:30 a.m. or earlier in cases in which the City is a party <br />shall remain on duty and perform regularly scheduled assignments until <br />commencement of the court appearance. Effective October 29, 2018, the <br />employee shall be compensated at one and one-half (1-1/2) times the <br />employee's regular straight-time rate of pay for hours worked in excess of <br />their regularly scheduled hours and for hours they are required to spend <br />attending court proceedings, with a minimum of five (5) hours. <br /> <br />7.7.2 Effective October 29, 2018, an employee who works C-Watch (or a shift <br />that begins at 1400 hours (2:00 p.m.)), and is mandated to appear in court <br />at 1300 hours (1:00 p.m.) on their normal scheduled work day, will be <br />compensated only for court hours and authorized court preparation time <br />6.I. - Page 24 of 84 <br />254
