5 <br />Key Audiences <br />Engagement for the DCRC will focus on reaching a broad range of community members and <br />stakeholder groups to ensure diverse voices are heard and represented. <br />Summary of Key Audiences: <br />Boards, Commissions, and Committees (BCCs) and Elected Officials: BCCs and <br />elected officials who will provide technical review, policy guidance, and oversight during <br />the planning process. <br />General Public: Community members from all neighborhoods and walks of life. <br />Spanish-Speakers: Individuals and families for whom Spanish is their primary language <br />Employers / Downtown Workers: Local business owners, employers, people who work <br />downtown, and representatives from key economic sectors. <br />Seniors: Older adults who may have unique needs and perspectives regarding the <br />planning process. <br />Youth and Families: Young people and families to ensure multi-generational <br />perspectives are incorporated. <br />Special Needs: Community members with disabilities and their advocates, focusing on <br />accessibility and inclusion. <br />The team will work with organizations including neighborhood groups, chambers of commerce, <br />community centers, social justice organizations, and others to effectively reach key audiences. <br />Specific organizations will be identified and engaged in future stages of the planning process. <br />STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT <br />The following strategies are being considered for engaging neighborhood groups, community- <br />based organizations (CBOs), and individuals to ensure their expertise is incorporated into the <br />planning process. <br />Neighborhood Association Meetings <br />City staff will attend the regularly scheduled meetings of pertinent Neighborhood Associations at <br />every phase of the outreach process. These meetings will serve as a platform to communicate <br />project updates, gather feedback, and address specific concerns from community members, <br />ensuring that the unique perspectives of each neighborhood are represented. <br />Focus Groups <br />A series of online focus groups will be conducted in person or via Zoom or a similar platform. <br />The purpose of each focus group will be to engage distinct segments of the community and <br />gather valuable insights into their unique needs and expectations. Each session will be <br />facilitated by a member of the consultant engagement team to ensure the discussions remain <br />focused and productive. Nuestra Casa staff will facilitate at least one Spanish-language focus <br />group. <br />The following two approaches are proposed for conducting the groups: <br /> Approach 1: Specialized Focus Groups with Single Organizations <br />Multiple focus groups will be scheduled individually, with each focus group composed of <br />8.A. - Page 11 of 17 <br />74
