Source:
Redwood City project website: www.RedwoodCity.org/101-84.
By reducing congestion, the Project is expected to significantly reduce air pollution, cutting emissions of
all major air pollutants by an average of 75%. The Project will also connect communities to open space
along the Bay shoreline, enhance transit access, and improve access to essential destinations such as
nearby healthcare centers (including Kaiser Permanente and Stanford Medical Centers), grocery stores,
recreational opportunities, and educational institutions.
FISCAL IMPACT
The project is estimated to cost $384 million dollars, reflecting a $60 million increase from the previous
working estimate based on 2018 unit prices. The primary areas of increase were material costs for
concrete, structural steel, and asphalt. These increases were reported to the City Council’s 101/84 Ad Hoc
Committee and were incorporated into the subsequent funding requests. Project cost increases are also
attributed to rising inflation and higher construction labor costs.
In 2024, the Project was awarded two large grants:
In June 2024, the regional Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) awarded $48 million in
regional bridge toll funds to the project.
9.A. - Page 4 of 6
84
