Learn why this is important at
https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification ]
Happy new year to all of you!
Please do not approve this increase. I wonder if Redwood City will be the one city that actually puts a line in the
sand and says no to these type of surprising increases. By now you’ve read numerous comments from my neighbors
so you know the reasons why NOT to approve this increase.
In 2024 all of my regular weekly providers asked for an increase. Their reasons were due to pandemic recovery,
fuel, insurance, etc.. This year I respectfully requested they rescind their requested increase for calendar year 2025.
They quickly agreed to leave my monthly rates at the 2024 rate. It simply does not make any sense for me to look
the other way. Have Americans forgotten how to solve problems about pricing?
Can you as our city council members figure this out another way?
What about a salary moratorium? Or, like some of the silicon valley corporations who are weeding out non-
performers, perhaps this will help our local government too?
Is it too complicated insurance-wise to arrange volunteers to help with some of the less risk jobs around the city?
Parks and rec for instance, street clean up around drainage, etc.. Filoli has a volunteer brigade to help in the
gardens. They figured it out. Instead of hiring people full or part time in the city government with full or partial
benefits, why not use vetted volunteers?
Respectfully, I ask you to not raise trash or other utility rates.
Sincerely,
Andrea Nordemann
57 Fulton Street
Redwood City, CA. 94062
415-971-2091
