SIDEWALK CAFE <br />As defined in Redwood City Municipal Code 29.2, as <br />may be amended from time to time. <br /> BUILDING PERMIT <br />Issued by the Building Division when the <br />Applicant’s plans meet all Outdoor Business <br />Activity Program Guidelines and California <br />Building Standards Code. <br />ENCROACHMENT PERMIT FOR OUTDOOR <br />BUSINESS ACTIVITY (“ENCROACHMENT <br />PERMIT”) <br />Issued by the Engineering & Transportation <br />Department as authorized in Municipal Code <br />Chapter 29 with Special Conditions for operating <br />and maintaining Outdoor Business Activity <br />within the right-of-way. <br />LICENSE AGREEMENT <br />An agreement entered into between the <br />Applicant and the City of Redwood City <br />specifying the terms and conditions of the <br />Applicant’s use of the right-of-way for Outdoor <br />Business Activity. <br /> <br />5 <br />responders, such as firefighters, paramedics, <br />and law enforcement, to efficiently and safely <br />access buildings, facilities, or areas during <br />emergencies. Emergency access clearances <br />ensure that first responders can act quickly <br />and effectively to protect lives and property <br />without unnecessary delays caused by physical <br />or logistical barriers. All Parklets and Sidewalk <br />Cafes shall maintain minimum clearance areas <br />to accommodate service vehicle and emergency <br />access as required by Section 4, Design <br />Standards & Guidelines. <br />MOVABLE IMPROVEMENTS <br />Tables, chairs, and planters in the right-of-way <br />that are not affixed to the right-of-way or a <br />Parklet Structure. <br />FIXED IMPROVEMENTS <br />Any Parklet structures and tables, chairs, <br />planters, or other Outdoor Business Activity <br />amenities that are affixed to a Parklet structure <br />or right-of-way. Fixed Improvements must be <br />constructed and installed in conformance with <br />the applicable provisions and guidelines of the <br />California Building Standards Code and all other <br />accessibility, health, and safety requirements, <br />subject to City Engineer approval. <br />OVERHEAD STRUCTURE <br />A structurally sound, stationary installation <br />made of durable materials, including a clear <br />and solid roof, which serves to enclose or <br />cover a Parklet or Sidewalk Cafe space. They <br />require a separate Planning entitlement (See <br />Section 5).
