Please <br />review Chapter 11B of the California Building <br />Code for more information. <br />5 At least 5 percent of each dining surface <br />(seating and standing spaces) in dining areas <br />must be accessible. Additionally, the dining <br />surfaces should comply with clear floor area <br />to allow wheelchairs to move freely (30” by <br />48” at 5% of seating), and accessible knee <br />and toe clearance. <br />4 Wheelchair turning spaces shall: <br />a. Be 60 inches in diameter <br />b. Located entirely upon the platform <br />6 Not less than one of each type of seating <br />or dining surface needs to be accessible, <br />but these accessible dining surfaces can <br />be located anywhere along the accessible <br />route. If they are all located next to the <br />entrance, then an accessible route is not <br />necessary throughout the rest of the space. <br />7 If an Applicant is concerned that they <br />cannot meet accessibility requirements due <br />to an unreasonable hardship, the Applicant <br />may provide an Unreasonable Hardship <br />form to document the issues and cost <br />associated with upgrades for the Building <br />Division’s review and determination.
