<br /> <br />00059814-1 <br /> 23 <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Managers who hold a current State of California Qualified <br />Pesticide Applicator Certification and are assigned by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br />Director to perform qualified applicator duties, shall receive certification pay of two and one half percent <br />(2.5%) of base salary. <br /> <br />16.14 Educational Expense Reimbursement <br /> <br /> 16.14.1 Management unit employees shall be eligible for reimbursement of costs of tuition, registration <br />fees, books, calculators, and other related items and supplies that are incurred in connection with <br />enrollment in and successful completion of an education development program or course of <br />instruction related to the member’s position with the City or a higher position with the City, <br />including professional development workshops or seminars, and post-secondary courses offered <br />at an accredited college or university.. <br /> <br /> 16.14.2 A full time employee shall be eligible to receive reimbursement not to exceed two <br />thousand dollars ($2,000) per fiscal year, for reimbursement of tuition for courses taken as part <br />of an accredited college or university degree program , or pro-rated for part time employees. <br />Such courses must be approved in advance of enrollment by the Personnel Officer and the <br />employee's dD epartment hH ead, and the employee successfully completes such course <br />submitted for reimbursement with a grade of "C" or better, or a passing grade in a pass/fail <br />course, or with receipt of a certificate of completion or letter certifying the awarding of C.E.U. <br />units. Up to fifty percent (50%) of the total allowance ($750) may be used for job-related <br />professional development workshops or seminars, or educational courses not taken as part of a <br />degree program. <br /> <br />Up to five hundred dollars ($500) of the two thousand dollar ($2,000) per fiscal year Educational <br />Expense Reimbursement may be used towards reimbursement for purchase of computer <br />hardware and mobile devices. Between February 28, 2022 and September 30, 2024, uUp to <br />seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) of the two thousand dollar ($2,000) per fiscal year Educational <br />Expense Reimbursement may be used towards reimbursement for purchase of computer <br />hardware and mobile devices, or for personal well-being activities such as fitness and gym <br />membership fees with Department Head and City Manager approval. To qualify for <br />reimbursement under this Section, computer hardware and mobile devices must be directly job- <br />related, must be used for City business, and must be authorized by the Department Head. <br />Approval of the Personnel Officer is required for remote access to City equipment, resources, or <br />email for overtime-eligible employees, and all overtime worked on computer or mobile devices <br />must be authorized by the dDepartment hH ead and documented on time cards in accordance <br />with Section 16.5.3. Employees who purchase mobile devices through this Section shall remain <br />accessible by management after hours. <br /> <br />Monthly service charges for Internet and mobile communication connections are not <br />reimbursable under this Section. Taxability of this benefit allowance is governed by the <br />provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and State and local regulations. Upon separation of <br />employment, the employee retains ownership of any devices purchased with Educational <br />Expense Reimbursement funds. <br /> <br /> 16.14.3 The Personnel Officer may establish standards and criteria and enact such rules, regulations, <br />procedures and policies as are necessary or appropriate to implement the provisions of this <br />Article 16.14. <br /> <br />6.I. - Page 37 of 119 <br />451
