CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SUMMARY OF COMPENSATION AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT <br />FOR THE CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEE GROUP <br /> <br />Page 30 of 34 <br />Approval of the Personnel Officer is required for remote access to City equipment, <br />resources, or email for overtime-eligible employees, and all overtime worked on <br />computer or mobile devices must be authorized by the department head and <br />documented on time cards. Monthly service charges for Internet and mobile <br />communication connections are not reimbursable under this Section. Taxability of <br />this benefit allowance is governed by the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code <br />and State and local regulations. Upon separation of employment, the employee <br />retains ownership of any devices purchased with Educational Expense <br />Reimbursement funds. <br /> <br />The Personnel Officer may establish standards and criteria and enact such rules, <br />regulations, procedures and policies as are necessary or appropriate to implement <br />the provisions of this Section. <br /> <br />Technology reimbursement receipts and requests must be received by May 31st <br />of each year. <br /> <br />E. Licenses and Certificates: Employees who are required by State or Federal <br />agencies, or by job description, to be licensed or certificated shall be reimbursed <br />for the fees for such license or certificate, including other DMV licenses above <br />Class “C” required by the Department of Motor Vehicles. <br /> <br />VIII. PROBATIONARY PERIOD <br />The probationary period is an integral part of the examination process and is utilized for <br />closely observing the employee's work, for securing the most effective adjustment of a <br />new employee to their position, and for rejecting any probationary employee whose <br />performance does not meet required work standards. Probationary employees shall be <br />informed of required work standards, and receive regular and timely feedback as it relates <br />to such work standards. <br /> <br />All original and promotional appointments shall be subject to a one (1) year probationary <br />period. A probationary period shall be automatically lengthened by an amount of time <br />corresponding to an employee’s leave of absence or modified duty of thirty (30) or more <br />consecutive calendar days during the probationary period. <br /> <br />At the end of the probationary period, if the department head desires to make a regular <br />appointment of the probationary employee, they shall file with the Personnel Officer a <br />written statement to the effect that the employee's services are satisfactory.
