Parking areas inside buildings or under attached <br />canopies equipped with car stackers or car puzzler systems shall be protected from above <br />by an automatic fire sprinkler system designed to a density of Extra Hazard Group 2. <br /> <br />Standard coverage sidewall sprinklers, listed for Ordinary Hazard Group 2 shall protect each <br />parking level with a maximum coverage of a sidewall sprinkler is 80 sq. ft. Extended <br />coverage sidewall heads for protection is prohibited. <br /> <br />The design area for the sprinkler system protecting the car stacker or car puzzler systems <br />shall be 2,500 square feet, which may be reduced to no less than 1,500 sq. ft. with fire code <br />official approval if one-hour rated walls and 1,000 sq. ft. fire areas are provided. <br /> <br />Hydraulic calculations must include flow from all sprinkler heads at all levels. Manual wet <br />or automatic wet standpipe connections must be provided at all access points and parking <br />levels, ensuring all areas within 150 feet by hose pull of a standpipe connection. CFC 321 as <br />added by Redwood City Municipal Code, Section 12.15.2. <br /> <br />54. Smoke Removal System. Car stackers and car puzzler systems installed inside structures <br />shall be provided with a mechanical smoke and heat removal system as per Section 910.4 <br />of California Fire Code. The smoke and heat removal system shall be automatically activated <br />upon detection of fire by the fire alarm system. Note that CFC § 910.4.4 is not applicable to <br />this requirement. Where provided, electric vehicle charging stations shall <br />be installed in accordance with the California Electrical Code. Electric vehicle charging <br />system equipment shall be listed and labeled in accordance with UL 2202. Electric vehicle <br />supply equipment shall be listed and labeled in accordance with UL 2594. [FIRE] [CBC <br />§406.2.7] <br /> <br />56. Elevator Lobbies and Waiting Areas. The elevator lobbies and waiting areas shall be <br />provided with a two-way communication system required by CFC §1009.8. [FIRE] <br /> <br />57. Alternate Methods and Materials Request. The approved and signed alternate methods <br />request for rescue/escape openings shall be attached to the building permit application <br />plan set. [FIRE] <br /> <br />Fire – Prior to Building Permit Issuance <br />58. Site Safety Plan. Construction site safety plans for the construction process are to be <br />approved by the Fire Marshal or his/her designee before Building Permit issuance. They <br />must follow all requirements in Chapter 33 of the California Fire Code. <br />
