Buildings of four (4) or more stories in height, a secure cabinet <br />or other enclosed area shall be provided as directed by the fire code official for housing fire <br />equipment. Fire equipment required to be provided shall be at the direction of the fire code <br />official. [CFC §907.2.12.3.1 as amended by the City of Redwood City Code of Ordinances <br />§12.23]. [FIRE] <br /> <br />60. Fire Hydrant and Sprinkler System Feed Lines. All water mains providing a water supply for <br />fire protection (both to fire hydrants and to fire service systems), shall be not less than eight <br />inches in diameter. The applicant Owner is responsible for fulfilling this condition and shall <br />submit plans to the Fire Marshal’s Office for review and approval. Water supply for fire <br />protection is required to be installed in accordance with water purveyor’s specifications. <br />The water supply shall be tested, flushed and approved operable prior to any combustible <br />construction materials being placed on the site. Staged construction shall insure that the <br />necessary water supply is maintained from stage to stage in the construction planning. At <br />least one hydrant shall be located within 50’ of the main fire department connection <br />(FDC). [FIRE] [CFC §507.1.1 as amended by the City of Redwood City Code of Ordinances <br />§12.16] <br /> <br />61. Fire Pump: Alternate Power Source. Notwithstanding the availability of a public utility to <br />provide electric service for a fire pump, electrically driven fire pumps shall be provided with <br />an alternate source of power in accordance with NFPA 20 due to foreseeable extended <br />electrical service interruptions along the California Power Grid due to high demand, high <br />heat, public safety power shutoffs, and damage to the power grid caused by destructive <br />natural events such as wildfires, high winds, and earthquakes. The applicant shall post temporary address numbers on each building <br />at the project site that must be easily visible from the street or fire access road. <br /> <br />Fire – Construction Process <br />63. Preconstruction Meeting. Prior to the issuance of any building permits, the applicant shall <br />coordinate with the Fire Marshal to schedule and conduct a preconstruction meeting to <br />discuss fire safety and code compliance during construction. The meeting shall be <br />scheduled at a time when the Fire Marshal or their designated representative can attend <br />and participate. The agenda for the meeting shall include, at a minimum, the following <br />topics: <br /> <br />a. Project and Permits Overview: Including scope, construction type, occupancy <br />classification, number of stories, square footage, key milestones, expected timeline, <br />and deferred submittals. <br /> <br />b. Roles and Responsibilities: Including points of contact and the roles of the Fire Marshal <br />and Fire Department in inspections, plan review, and project oversight.
