REV: 02-27-25 LF
Once the potable water meter is secured and shutoff, the Consultant will
depressurize the system.
The Consultant will allow the recorders to run for a minimum of two hours (or as
approved by the City). With the proposed recycled water system fully pressurized,
the site’s representative will operate the recycled water system as directed by the
Consultant.
At the end of the shutdown test, the Consultant shall re-establish potable water
line pressure while the digital pressure recorders are running to obtain the final
pressure spike before completing the potable phase shutdown test and beginning
the recycled water phase of the shutdown test.
If there are no significant pressure increases and flow variations, the test is successful.
Recycled Water Pressure Cross Connection Shutdown Test
Consultant shall receive approval through a test plan as described above for exact
procedures for the site prior to conducting each test. The recycled water pressure cross-
connection shutdown test, in general, involves the following actions:
On all recycled water meters, the Consultant will install digital pressure recorders
on all reduced pressure principal backflow prevention assemblies or at a quick
coupler valve.
The Consultant shall verify that the recorders are operating properly and allowed
to track under full pressure for at least 10 minutes before isolating and
depressurizing the system.
Once the recycled water meter is secured and shut off, the Consultant will
depressurize the system to at least 30 percent of the potable line pressure.
The Consultant will allow the digital pressure recorders to run for a minimum of two
hours (or as approved by the City) with the potable water system fully pressurized.
On irrigation systems, the site’s representative will set every irrigation station to
run on a two-minute per station test cycled during the test.
At the end of the shutdown test, the Consultant shall re-establish recycled water
line pressure while the digital pressure recorders are running to obtain the final
pressure spike before completing the shutdown test.
If there are no significant pressure increases and flow variations, the test is successful.
For Task 5 overall,
If Consultant waits one hour with no response and no show from the site
representative for a scheduled cross connection test, Consultant may charge a
cancellation fee of one hour for one staff member. The cancellation fee will be
based on the hourly rate of the appropriate position.
Consultant is not responsible for paying any agency fees.
Task 5 Deliverables:
Prior to performing the test, Consultant shall submit electronically in PDF format to
the City the site-specific pressure cross-connection test plan
ATTY/AGR.2025.032/West Yost & Associates, Inc.
