Page 4 of 7 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />Extended Warranty Coverage: <br />A comprehensive extended warranty that covers the Taser 10 handle, battery, and associated <br />components. <br />Reduces maintenance costs and ensures the department has fully operational devices at all times <br />without additional financial strain. <br />Holsters and Accessories: <br />Provides officers with purpose-built holsters and related accessories to securely carry and deploy the <br />Taser 10. <br />Ensures quick and safe access to the device when needed in the field. <br />The Police Department recommends approving a sole-source purchase agreement for the Taser 10 <br />Certification Pro Bundle based on the following factors: <br />Unique and Specialized Equipment: <br />Axon is the sole manufacturer and distributor of the Taser 10 system, and no other company produces <br />a CED with the same level of integration and functionality. <br />The Taser 10 is designed to work seamlessly with the department’s existing Axon body-worn cameras, <br />digital evidence platform, and training programs. <br />Lifecycle Replacement Program: <br />The proposed sole-source agreement includes an automatic five-year replacement cycle, ensuring the <br />department has the latest CED technology without the need for future procurement processes. <br />This program eliminates concerns about device obsolescence and reliability while maintaining <br />compatibility with other Axon products in use. <br />Industry Standard and Law Enforcement Preference: <br />Axon Tasers are widely recognized as the industry standard and are used by law enforcement agencies <br />across the country. <br />No other vendor offers a CED that matches Axon’s range, multi-shot capability, or built-in camera <br />activation features. <br />Operational Consistency and Training Efficiency: <br />Switching to a different vendor would require extensive retraining for all officers, leading to additional <br />costs and logistical challenges. <br />Continuing with Axon ensures a seamless transition from the Taser X2 to the Taser 10, minimizing <br />disruptions to training and field operations. <br />6.B. - Page 4 of 91 <br />21
