REV: 04-04-25 LR
[New] TASK 13 – PUMP STATION CONDITION ASSESSMENT
The Consultant will review and analyze sixteen (16) pump stations (fourteen in Redwood Shores
and two in Seaport). The pump stations include: No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 21, 24, 25,
Centrum, Seaport #1, and Seaport #2. The Consultant will develop a process to identify and
prioritize rehabilitation needs. The condition assessment will provide a list of issues at each pump
station including recommendations on how to address the issue and the estimated cost for each
issue. The assessment for Seaport Pump Stations 1 and 2 will be categorized under separate
Subtasks from those located in Redwood Shores for funding purposes.
Subtask 13.1 – Review Existing Document (for 14 Redwood Shores Pump Stations)
The Consultant will review existing documentation for the pump stations including
available plans, record drawings, equipment data, pump runtime data, maintenance
records, and other relevant information both prior to site visits and as needed to prepare
deliverables under Subtask 13.3. For each of the fourteen pump stations, the Consultant
will prepare checklist forms for internal use in documenting major assets based on data
provided by the City. These checklists will be used during the site visits to confirm the
major assets (i.e.. equipment make/model, pipe sizes and material, valve locations and
type, etc.)
City staff will provide relevant data regarding pump stations and force mains, including
record drawings, equipment data (such as cut sheets/shop drawings), pump curves,
performance test data, motor data, pump runtime data, maintenance records, and
previous reports.
Subtask 13.1 Assumptions
City will provide relevant data regarding pump stations and force mains. This is
expected to include record drawings, equipment data including cut sheets/shop
drawings, pump curves, performance test data, motor data, pump runtime data,
maintenance records, and previous reports.
Woodard & Curran will review existing documentation prior to site visits and as
needed to prepare deliverables under Subtask 13.3.
The checklists prepared prior to site visits will not be considered a detailed
assessment form and will not be used to develop an asset management program.
Subtask 13.2 – Conduct Site Visits and Operator Interviews
The Consultant will conduct site visits and operator interviews, assuming four (4) pump
stations per day or four (4) days of consecutive field visits (including the two Seaport pump
stations). The existing conditions will be documented and photographed. Each asset will
be confirmed against record drawings and other data, as listed under Subtask 13.1
assumptions, provided by the City. The mechanical equipment and piping will be observed
for noise, vibration, protective coating, corrosion, operating pressure, flows/leaks, broken
or missing parts, or other signs of poor condition. Electrical equipment including
Instrumentation and Control (I&C) hardware will be observed for corrosion, wire integrity
(visual only), and apparent code compliance or deviations. Visual observations of
electrical code (National Electric Code) violations regarding clearance requirements,
missing arc flash hazard labels, and grounding methods will be documented.
