REV: 04-29-25 LF
OUTRIGGER PADS
A permanently attached self-centering floating type 1/2” thick, 154 sq. inch steel pad shall be
provided on each outrigger. The pad shall swivel and require no adjustment during outrigger set-
up.
The outrigger pad shall be attached without the use of a bearing type swivel due to maintenance
required on this design. Outrigger pads that pivot in only one plane shall not be acceptable due
to their inability to distribute loading over the total pad surface on uneven terrain.
AUXILIARY OUTRIGGER GROUND PADS
Two (2) auxiliary outrigger ground pads shall be provided for additional load distribution. Each
ground pad shall measure 1” x 24” x 24” (576 sq. in.) and shall be fabricated of Composite Plastic.
Each ground pad shall be equipped with a handle for easy use. The auxiliary pads shall be stored
in locations that are readily accessible.
AERIAL/OUTRIGGER INTERLOCK SYSTEM
An interlock system shall be provided between the outriggers and aerial device that prevents the
operation of the aerial until the operator places all jacks in the load-supporting configuration. All
jacks shall be equipped with a ground force sensitive switch that closes only when the jack is
firmly in contact with the ground.
Until all the switches close, hydraulic power shall not be transmitted to the turntable, hence
preventing aerial operation. Green indicator lights shall be provided on the outrigger control panel
to indicate that the outrigger foot is in firm contact with the ground and in a load supporting
position.
TRACTOR LOCKOUT SYSTEM
To reduce flexing between the tractor and trailer during aerial operations, four (4) hydraulic
cylinders shall be mounted on the trailer. The cylinder rod ends shall extend down to the tractor
fifth wheel plate.
TRACTOR POSITION INDICATOR
Color coded decals (Yellow/Green) and an indicator shall be provided in the fifth wheel/gooseneck
area to identify when the apparatus is in an acceptable position for set up to provide optimal aerial
operation capabilities.
An indicator in the green section shall signify that the tractor cab is positioned up to approximately
30 degrees relative to the tractor cab providing full ladder tip load rating and operational
positioning capabilities.
An indicator in the yellow section shall signify that the tractor cab is positioned beyond 30 degrees
relative to the trailer providing limited ladder tip load rating and operational positioning capabilities.
ATTY/AGR.2025.089/Fire Apparatus Solutions (Purchase of Spartan-LTC 105' TDA) (Page 132 of 150)
