6.1 C
Page 2
• Assessing public & stakeholder sentiment using in-depth interviews, surveys
&focus groups
The primary goal of the Data Instincts contract is to help the City keep the public
informed via an open and transparent process. The City recognizes the tremendous
community interest in the proposal to develop the 1,400-plus acre properky and will
continue to provide details about the appiication process, necessary studies and
schedule for the review process on the City's Web site at
www.redwoodcity.orp/saltworks. Data lnstincts is providing essential services to help
City staff maintain this level of commitment.
Per the City Council's direction, the City and its consultant #eam are in the process of
analyzing and evaluating "Tier One" issues (water supply, transportation, and
jurisdictional overlays) associated with the Saltworks development proposal, with the
expectation of reporting back to the City Council and the community in the first quarter
of 2010. Data Instincts is assisting Ci#y staff with the coordination, notification and
presentation of the materials associated with the "Tier One" evaluations.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to approve the contract amendment with Data Instincts or
direct staff to modify the scope of work, or work with an alternative consultant, or
perform the work in house.
FISCAL IMPACT
The development proposal is subject to the Redwood City Planning Services cost
recovery system; hence, the applicant has agreed to fully reimburse the City for all costs
associated with processing the application. Further, the applicant and the City are
negotiating a reimbursement agreement per Council's direction in September. With the
approval of contract Amendment No. 1, the applicant will be required to submit funds to
the City in order to cover the costs incurred. Consequently, there will be no fiscal impact
to the City as a result of reviewing the development proposal.
-
e yon JiH as,AI
, Senior Planner P ning, Housing, Economic Development Director

Peter Ingram ""`
City Manager
ATTACHMENTS
1.
