SANITARY SEWERS 02 7300-13 <br /> <br />D. CONTRACTOR shall properly dispose offsite any asbestos containing materials <br />or hazardous substances encountered during construction work in accordance <br />with applicable sections of the General Conditions. <br />E. Manhole removal shall conform to Section 02 7500 of these specifications. <br />3.04 LATERAL INSTALLATION <br />A. Install sanitary sewer cleanouts per project details and specifications <br />B. CONTRACTOR shall verify location and diameter of all active laterals. <br />C. Unless otherwise noted on the plans, all sanitary sewer laterals shall terminate in <br />a cleanout constructed to the form and dimensions shown and detailed on the <br />plans and detail drawings (i.e. within 5 feet beyond the right of way line). <br />D. Unless otherwise noted on the plans, sanitary sewer lateral shall be installed <br />perpendicular to the main sewer line or as directed in the field by CITY Inspector. <br />Tracer wire shall be installed in lateral pipeline and conform to CITY Standard <br />details. <br />E. Unless otherwise noted on the plans, the sewer lateral shall have a slope equal to <br />the existing and a minimum of two-percent. <br />F. Connections to the existing sewer house connection pipe shall be made using <br />sleeved stainless steel flexible couplings. All flexible couplings shall conform to <br />ASTMC425 and be manufactured by Fernco Joint Sealer Co., DFW Plastics, Inc. <br />or approved equal. <br />G. In cases where there are form of obstructions in the field during sewer lateral <br />installation (e.g. fences, retaining walls, decorative blocks, pavers, etc.), <br />CONTRACTOR shall determine with the CITY the feasible and appropriate <br />location of new lateral. <br />H. Existing sewer laterals shown on the drawings are schematic only. CONTRACTOR <br />to field verify all active laterals prior to the installation of new ones. No additional <br />compensation will be made to the CONTRACTOR for assessing whether the <br />existing lateral is active or inactive. <br />I. Location of all sewer laterals shall be permanently marked by imprinting or <br />carefully chiseling the letter āSā four inches (4ā) in height on the top of the curb <br />above the lateral. <br />J. Root barrier shall be provided when installing sewer lateral service connections <br />near or within three feet of tree roots. <br />K. In cases where there are more than one lateral and cleanout on a property, the <br />contractor shall verify the inactive laterals and disconnect and abandon all these <br />laterals as directed and approved by the ENGINEER. <br />3.05 ABANDONMENT OF EXISTING SANITARY SEWER LATERALS
