PROPOSED AMENDED JOB DESCRIPTION <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SENIOR PLANNER <br />DEFINITION <br />To provide responsible and technical staff assistance in planning and development <br />matters; to facilitate application for planning permits through the Zoning Administrator, <br />or Planning Commission, City Council, or other boards and commissions; to provide <br />information to the public on planning-related matters; and to prepare a variety of <br />planning reports and documents. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Direction is provided by the Planning Community Development Director, Planning <br />Assistant Community Development ManagerDirector, or Principal Planner. <br />Responsibilities may include functional supervision (i.e. providing guidance/oversight <br />on a task or project) of subordinate staff. <br />Assignments may include technical or functional supervision over subordinate <br />planning positions. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />1.Evaluates and analyzes large, complex development projects. <br />2.Leads development of City policy related to land use, housing, transportation, <br />and related topics to support long-range planning initiatives. <br />3.Coordinates and monitors the work of consultants and City staff work on special <br />planning studies. <br />4.Develops and reviews Requests for Proposals <br />5.Serves as lead representative for the City working with other jurisdictions and <br />regional bodies, for example, Metropolitan Transportation Commission <br />6.Provides technical staff assistance to other City staff and the public in planning <br />and development matters. <br />7.FacilitateProcesses and manages applications for planning permits and <br />environmental review through the Zoning Administrator, Planning Commission, <br />City Council, and other boards and commissions. <br />8.Prepares or Ssupervises the preparation of environmental review documents. <br />9.Prepares amendments to the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance. <br />10.
