Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: September 8, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Grant application and project approvals for San Mateo County Transportation Authority’s Measure A & W <br />Highway Program, Jefferson Avenue Traffic Safety Improvement Project <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a resolution supporting the Jefferson Avenue Traffic Safety Improvement Project and authorizing <br />submittal of an application to the San Mateo County Transportation Authority’s 2025 Measure A & <br />Measure W Highway Program Call for Projects and authorize the city manager or their designee to execute <br />all grant documents necessary to secure grant funds of $4 million. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />Traffic safety improvement along Jefferson Avenue is a community-priority project identified in the <br />Redwood City adopted transportation plans: RWCMoves and Walk Bike Thrive Plan. The proposed <br />Jefferson Avenue Traffic Safety Improvement Project supports the City Council’s Strategic Priority of <br />Transportation to create and maintain a multimodal, safe, and accessible transportation network. <br />The proposed project alignment extends from El Camino Real to Farm Hill Boulevard. This segment of <br />Jefferson Avenue is surrounded by community destinations including Red Morton Park and sport facilities; <br />Veterans Memorial Building/Senior Center; Orion, McKinley, and North Star schools; and businesses. <br />8.B. - Page 1 of 6 <br />12
